Let the world know about one of your teachers.

Leave a comment below to "name names," but in a good sense: acknowledging a teacher or two and what they taught you, whether purposefully or "merely" by example.

Then let them know there is a shout-out about them for all the world to see. Enjoy.

My mom (Janet MacKenzie)- My mom has been one of my favorite teachers throughout my life. She taught me how to play the violin at a young age. She also taught a lot about life, which any good parent would do.

Mr. Gannon- He was my 6th grade teacher. I was nervous to have him because I never had a male teacher before. It was a great school year. He made me speak in front of the class, which is something I was so scared to do. Because of him and his encouragement I might not be able to speak in front of groups, and since I am a teacher it's important that I do!

Norma Bailey- She was my mentor in my undergraduate work with middle school level. She helped me realize that my passion is middle level kids. Which she was right because I love my job.

My best teachers are my mom, my kids and my grandma. My mom taught me by example to love books and reading, to have patience and to look for the good things in everything even the bad stuff. My kids teach me daily. They sometimes teach by having me look at my attitudes or weaknesses and other times they just say really profound things that smack me upside the head. My grandmother was an elementary school teacher at the Pine Ridge school. She went back to college in the 60's when she was already a grandma, an unheard of ambition in that day and earned her teaching certificate. She taught me it's never too late to do what you want to do in life.
My favorite teacher in school was Mr. Young who I had for 7th and 8th grade science. He was smart, kind, funny and made learning about science an adventure. I really think I love learning about scientific discoveries and reading scientific publications because of him. Thanks Mr. Young.
